The Frantoio olive fruit is medium in size (2-2.5 g), elongated, ovoid in shape, and slightly asymmetrical; its color ranges from light green to more or less intense purplish-black, and it has sparse but clearly visible lenticels.
Frantoio olive trees adapt quite well to various soil types. They have poor cold tolerance and are somewhat susceptible to scab and peacock spot (or cycloconium).
The Frantoio olive tree is self-fertile but benefits from cross-pollination with Leccino, Maurino, Pendolino, Carolea and Kalamata, while in turn it has proven to be a good pollinator for numerous other cultivars.
The Frantoio olive tree bears fruit extremely early (sometimes even in nursery plants).
Frantoio olives ripen gradually and late. Their productivity is high and consistent.
The yield at the mill is high (18-22%), excellent quality oil, fine, savoury, fruity.
